Start your sports betting experience today at Royal Panda

    In a Nutshell

    • Top highlights: A good range of sports for both live and non-live bettors; an attached, well-established online casino - including live games
    • VIP or loyalty programme: Yes
    • Other offerings: Casino, live casino

    Overview

Although Royal Panda's history of providing online gambling services goes back over a decade, it was only in summer 2017 that the site finally launched its sportsbook. The omens look good, especially given the site's established reputation as an online casino.

In combining both casino and sports betting arms, Royal Panda looks like it could be an enjoyable place for fans of both casino games and sports betting to visit. However, does the reality of testing this site really bear out such a belief? We decided to find out.

    Promotions

If you take even a fairly cursory look at the promotions, Royal Panda's long-established history of casino games makes itself clear. Most of the promotions that we saw on the site were directly relevant to the casino games rather than sports offerings.

Nonetheless, Royal Panda does offer an enticingly large free bet for sports fans. During our visit, we also saw a particularly exciting promotion tying in with Royal Panda's recent decision to sponsor Queens Park Rangers, giving QPR fans an especially good reason to sign up. The promotions could change soon, however, so don't hang about.

Sports Betting Types and Betting Markets

The selection of sports won't overly surprise many people who have considerable experience of sports betting sites. The relatively standard choices at Royal Panda include:

    • Tennis
    • Cricket
    • Basketball
    • Volleyball
    • Badminton
    • Table tennis

However, the overall range of sports is much broader than the above list may suggest at first. Other choices feature, for example:

    • Ice hockey
    • Rugby league
    • Rugby union
    • Snooker
    • Baseball
    • Surfing

    Betting Coverage

    Royal Panda's betting coverage

Unlike many of its competitors, Royal Panda does not offer any mobile app - either for its sports bettors or even casino players. If you want to bet on mobile, you need to do it all through Royal Panda's mobile-optimised site - and we'll return to that subject a little later.

Royal Panda has geared its sports betting portal strongly towards live betting - even with how the site is designed, another subject that will get more of our attention later in the review. The site even offers a ‘Live MultiView’ for tracking multiple live events on one page.

Given all of this, it is peculiar that the site does not generally allow users to live stream sports events - the exceptions include major football games likely to attract huge viewing figures. We would definitely urge Royal Panda to bulk out its live streaming options.

    Software and Graphics

It would be fair to say that the Royal Panda site's interface for sports bettors can be confusing. Rather unusually for a sports betting portal, it loads up the in-play hub first. From there, you can reach the non-live section by clicking the ‘PRE-MATCH’ tab.

However, you need to scroll down on the left-hand panel to see the ‘LIVE’ or ‘PRE-MATCH’ sports, depending on what tab is selected.

One piece of good news is that, once you have discerned how to navigate the site, the actual sports betting experience is fairly smooth. Royal Panda has launched its sports betting platform in partnership with sportsbook coverage provider BetConstruct.

    Extra Value

The casino and sports betting parts of the site are integrated to the extent that money gained from sports betting can be put towards playing the casino games, and vice versa. Furthermore, both parts are covered by the same loyalty scheme.

    Loyalty or VIP Programme

The site's loyalty programme, the wittily named ‘Loyal Panda’, allows you to accumulate ‘Loyal Panda Points’ that you can redeem against gifts in the Royal Panda Shop.

The shop stocks the likes of shirts and mugs, which require much fewer LP Points than, for example, electronic devices such as the phones and tablets we also saw available. For each LP Point you can pick up through sports betting, you need to wager £10.

    Other Offerings

Royal Panda casino site is also excellent - join today for an all round experience

As we have already largely established in this review, Royal Panda is formidable as a casino site. The choice of casino games includes slots, blackjack, roulette, poker and table games.

The live casino games, where you get a live video feed of a physical dealer who you can even chat with, are especially fun. Some of the live casino games are Royal Panda exclusives. Casino players also get the lion's share - or should that be panda's share? - of the promotions that the site advertises.

    Customer Support

You only have to click ‘Help’ at the top of the site interface to see FAQs slide into view. Unlike the FAQs on many other sites, they are sufficiently detailed to answer many of the most crucial questions, without being so long that they simply overwhelm the reader.

Even if your queries aren't all answered here, the Help section offers ready access to the customer support team's phone number, email address and live chat channel – although you shouldn’t overlook the customer service hours, which are 9 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. Central European Time.

    Who Can Play?

Royal Panda specifies the following as territories where its "world-class sports betting environment" is available:

    • Bonaire
    • Sint Eustatius and Saba
    • Brazil
    • Canada
    • Chile
    • Curaçao
    • Finland
    • Germany
    • Iceland
    • India
    • Isle of Man
    • Luxembourg
    • Malta
    • Monaco
    • Norway
    • Peru
    • Sint Maarten (Dutch part)
    • South Africa
    • Sweden
    • Switzerland
    • United Kingdom

Royal Panda has also pledged to "shortly" expand the number of countries to which its sports betting section is open.

    Licence

The United Kingdom's Gambling Commission is tasked with regulating Royal Panda for the comfort and safety of people who place sports bets on the site.

    Bottom Line

While Royal Panda's sports betting component is pretty new and has some fairly obvious gaps, the site has still started out well in this field. This gives us confidence that Royal Panda will build on merits like the favourable selection of betting markets, plus reliable software.
