    In a Nutshell

    • Top highlights: Amazing choice of betting markets and deposit and withdrawal options; accomplished and well-rated mobile app for sports betting
    • VIP or loyalty programme: Yes
    • Other offerings: Games, casino, bingo, poker

Considering what a well-known name it is in bookmaking, it may surprise you that Paddy Power was founded not in the early 20th century, but instead as recently as 1988. The "Paddy" part of the name derives from the company's Irish roots.

The company was established in Dublin from a merger of shops run by three Irish bookmakers: John Corcoran, Stewart Kenny and David Power. Today, Paddy Power leads the Irish bookies market and is a formidable force over here in the UK, too.

The selection of bonuses available on Paddy Power's site is among the most generous we have seen on any sports betting site, although there was - understandably - a particularly strong focus on football in the promotions we saw.

Naturally, these promotions are subject to change and revision over time. However, examples of treats that you shouldn't be too surprised to see the site offerings when you visit include trips, free bets, early payouts and - of course - cash prizes.

Sports Betting Types and Betting Markets

The user-friendly nature of the website's design has led Paddy Power to list, on its main sports betting page, only a few of the sports betting types that it offers. Football, horse racing, tennis and cricket all appear there - but there's yet more choice...

To see it, just click the ‘A-Z Betting’ link slightly further down. This will bring you to a more comprehensive list featuring:

    • Australian rules
    • Cycling
    • Greyhound racing
    • Netball
    • Snooker
    • Surfing
    • Table tennis
    • Volleyball

Nonetheless, football fans have especially good reason to be happy with Paddy Power, as it covers competitions at different tiers - and from a wide range of countries - of football.

    Betting Coverage

an extensive betting coverage is available at PaddyPower

Unsurprisingly for a bookmaker of its stature, Paddy Power lets you bet live - or ‘in-play’, to cite the more prominently-used term on the website - on many markets. Furthermore, Paddy Power lets its users stream more than 100,000 sports events each year.

Live betting - including live streaming - is also available through the mobile app that Paddy Power has created especially for its sports bettors. It is through this app that you can also closely track match developments by keeping an eye on live statistics and visualisations.

    Software and Graphics

If you are impressed by how attractive Paddy Power's online sportsbook looks and how speedily it loads, you can largely thank the site's use of software from OpenBet, which is a highly respected purveyor of online gambling software.

The simplicity of the website's design also helps to keep things running hitch-free. That same design makes extensive use of green and white, the colours that have become strongly associated with Paddy Power's aesthetic branding.

Paddy Power has carried that branding over to the previously mentioned sports betting app, too. On the subject of that app, it's recently been given a design overhaul that significantly eases the process of finding selections, thanks to its newly designed tabs and menus.

    Extra Value

PaddyPower also has a mobile app for all your betting needs

In case you haven't yet gathered, we are pretty fond of the mobile app. Although it’s available for both the Android and iOS platforms, we particularly like the iOS app due to its support for Apple's Touch ID and Face ID login technologies. However, if you are distrustful of either technology, you can rest assured that a four-digit PIN can still be used instead.

Even if you stay with just the main website, Paddy Power News is a veritable treasure trove of information about what to watch out for as you bet. Here, you can get - for example - tips on what sports fixtures are coming up and where precisely to place your bets.

    Loyalty or VIP Programme

Paddy Power runs ‘Paddy's Rewards Club’ - which, as the site proudly boasts, offers "more than just free bets"! Other treats that members of the club can enjoy include - to cite just a few examples - live events, match screenings, discounts and matchday food and drink.

    Other Offerings

Casino, bingo and poker are also available at PaddyPower

For those times when you fancy a break from sports betting, Paddy Power has much else to offer, including online games of both the casino and non-casino variety. There's a good choice of both bingo and poker games, while the live casino particularly entices us.

    Customer Support

    Who Can Play?

Paddy Power does not publish a complete list of the territories where accessing, registering for and using its services is legal; however, those territories do include:

It does not strictly follow that, if your territory does not feature in this list, you are legally banned from sports betting on Paddy Power's site. However, here is a selection - if, again, not a full list - of countries where using Paddy Power would break the law:

    • Australia
    • Austria

    Bottom Line

We are delighted to say that Paddy Power's breadth of offerings on its sports betting site confidently reflects the bookmaker's prestigious reputation. We are especially impressed by the sports betting app and the choice of betting markets and payment options.

What do other players think about PaddyPower Sports?

Pros:   I bet once each year on the grand national horse race. I always use paddy Power and have always found it easy to use. I don-t use any other facilities they offer and have never had any problem that needed resolution so my reviewing capability is limited.
Cons:   I only use paddy Power once each year so I have nothing to compare. I have not experienced anything I would consider in need of improvement.

    Northern Ireland
Pros:   Low deposit and withdrawal limit, easy to navigate around the app, good customer service methods, good odds on all sports bets including a daily boosting bonus
Cons:   They could improve on the bonus for multiple bets

    East Midlands
Pros:   I like the platform and the variety of events available, I also mostly like the loyalty scheme.
Cons:   Paddy Power do have a good loyalty scheme but I would really like it if there was more little promotions like other platforms I have used.
